Zirconia / All Ceramic

PFD Posterior Zirconia

Prescribe PFD™ Posterior Zirconia for a stronger, more natural-looking alternative to metal PFMs or full-cast crowns. At over 1200mpa PFD Posterior is ideal for bruxers, these shear resistant; all-zirconia crowns are designed and milled using Sirona CAD/CAM technology for accuracy and predictability. Solid Zirconia has the highest flexural strength of any ceramic restoration, but is still gentle enough to protect bruxers’ opposing dentition. Indicated for posterior crowns, bridges, inlays and onlays. It is an esthetic solution for bruxers and grinders when PFM metal occlusal/lingual or full-cast restorations are not desired or when patient lacks the preparation space for a PFM or has broken a PFM in the past.

  • 1200 MPa flexural strength
  • Highly biocompatible
  • Super translucent esthetic zirconia
  • CAD/CAM milled for precise marginal fit
  • Milled from pre-shaded blanks for precise shades every time
  • Long-term reliability
  • Healthy tissue response
  • Synthetic ceramics for low wear
  • Better shading
  • Natural opalescence and translucency
  • Bruxers because of its durability
  • Ability to conceal dark colored preparations
  • Endodontically treated teeth, post and cores, and implant abutments
  • Ideal for posterior crowns and bridges of any span
  • Also suitable for Maryland bridges and inlays/onlays
  • Incisal/Occlusal Reduction: 1mm-1.5mm is ideal
  • Facial Reduction: 1mm-1.2mm is ideal
  • Cervial Reduction: 1mm is ideal
  • There should also be a visible and continuous circumferential chamfer

0.5mm of reduction is acceptable in some spots

It is recommended that full-contour zirconia be cemented using a zirconia primer like Z-Prime from Bisco or Clearfil Ceramic Primer from Kuraray. Alternatively, a resin reinforced glass ionomer such as RelyX Luting cement can also be used. When a greater bond is needed due to the lack of a retentive preparation, use a resin cement like RelyX Unicam or RelyX Ultimate. Before cementing all full-contour zirconia crowns, the interior surface of the crown needs to be cleaned with Ivoclean (Ivoclar Vivadent – Amherst, NY). This is critical in assuring maximum bond strength.

PFD Anterior Zirconia

PFD™ Anterior Zirconia is designed specifically to answer the need for esthetic and functional requirements of the anterior region. At 650 MPa, PFD™ Anterior Zirconia is much stronger than porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) restorations while maintaining a natural and vibrant translucency. The product is 100% metal-free, a feature that prevents gingival darkening and removes the possibility of exposing metallic margins if gum recession begins.

PFD™ Anterior Zirconia is milled from the highest translucency zirconia on the market – Katana UTML. This zirconia disc is pre-shaded, and multi-layered with gingival, body, and incisal shading. With translucency and color similar to natural dentition, it is the perfect esthetic solution for your anterior restorations. This material requires less reduction than monolithic glass ceramic restorations but remains gentle on opposing dentition.

  • Superb esthetics
  • KATANA Ultra-Translucent Zirconia
  • Pre-Shaded and Multi-Layered
  • Life-like translucency
  • Highly biocompatible
  • Long-term reliability
  • Healthy tissue response
  • Synthetic ceramics for low wear
  • Better shading
  • Natural opalescence and translucency
  • Ideal for anterior crowns and bridges or posterior crowns and bridges up to three units
  • Incisal/Occlusal Reduction: 1mm-1.5mm is ideal
  • Facial Reduction: 1mm-1.2mm is ideal
  • Cervial Reduction: 1mm is ideal

Custom Shading (Practice / Lab)

Many laboratories charge a fee for custom shade selections. Here at PFD Digital we believe that your patronage of our lab is all that is needed for us to provide this service to you free of charge! Whether you prefer one of our highly skilled technicians to visit your practice, or you would rather send a patient to the lab, you can be assured that we will select a shade that accurately matches your patient’s natural tooth color. By using the Vita and Vita 3D-Master Shade Guide we are able to select shades based off of three different dimensions of color: hue, value, and chroma. The accuracy of these guides allows our laboratory to be as precise as possible, and patients are always guaranteed a pleasant result.

Custom Design Consultation

Some patients want to be in full control of the design of their crown or bridge. We believe that allowing the patient to aid in the design of their restoration is the number one way to ensure they will get exactly what they want. Doctors rant and rave about this complimentary service because the patient will know what they are getting before the final seating, eliminating any stress caused by a patient that is looking for a specific aesthetic result. We will take the time to sit down with the patient, and go over all of their specific aesthetic requests. We will design the initial buildup with the patient, and make any adjustments that they request. Schedule a design consultation for you patient today!
